Hardboiled - Turn-Based RPG that Inspired by Fallout

I think the "inspired" is the right word to describe RPG Game developer made by Dev Team, titled Hardboiled, that enliven the Google Play Store this month. Like the title of the article that I wrote above, Hardboiled is an RPG with the pattern of turn-based strategy game that explicitly mentions the classic Fallout series as inspiration.

In Hardboiled, you will play as Max, a wanderer in a world ravaged nuclear war. The game is told that the car you're robbed a gang when you're doing barter in a middle of nowhere town. Armed with makeshift weapons and equipment, you will be venturing down the city to look for the presence of auto parts missing.

Hardboiled arguably the game is very similar to the first and second Fallout. This game has two gameplay section. Exploration in real time to explore the town and interact with the NPC, then turn-based strategy when you enter battle mode. Although the town is small you browse, there are a lot of interesting interactions that can occur depending on your reputation in the eyes of the NPC. You could have attacked a homeless man innocent to retrieve her belongings. But remember, by doing this, your reputation will decrease dramatically and the guards will not hesitate to kill you on the spot.

Just like Fallout, tactical battle became the main treat that makes Hardboiled is quite interesting. You can even target the parts of the body while fighting an opponent in order to cause effects that range from disarming your opponent by shooting part of their hands, to give effect greater damage by targeting the head.

Not only that, Hardboiled also provides tactics for cover behind a number of objects like Shadowrun game. By utilizing a variety of objects that are all around the city, you can protect yourself from the effects of greater damage to successfully win the battle.

So far Hardboiled can be fairly solid, although the developer Game Dev Team itself lacking a lot of attention in terms of story to boost the overall presentation of the game. I think it would be more interesting if we were treated to a cutscene to illustrate how the story of Max get stranded there. Although the present with all the limitations in it, Hardboiled remains an interesting RPG that need to be considered to fill the void Fallout-style strategy game that is rare to encounter on a mobile platform.
